Best Recipes for Waffles?

Anyone have any good recipes for waffles that work good on the G5 Foreman Grill?
I just got a G5 Foreman Grill, it hardly includes any recipes. It comes with the waffle plates but no recipe…go figure! Could you please share your favorite waffle recipe that would work well with my new grill.

My George Foreman G5 came with The Next Grilleration G5 Cookbook by Deb Roussou, didn’t yours?

To cook two 5.5″ by 7″ waffles, it takes about three to four minutes and it is basically the same operation as any other waffle maker. After making the batter and preheating the grill (with the proper plates attached), I spray it with non-stick spray, pour about 1/3 cup of batter onto the bottom plates, close the top and wait a few minutes until I get perfect waffles that are easy to remove and taste great!

Here is the easy recipe I use!

Best Waffles Ever

(5 servings)

1 and 3/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 Tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 beaten egg yolks
1 and 3/4 cups milk
1/2 cup vegtable oil
3 egg whites – beaten stiffly
Mix all dry ingredients. Combine yolks and milk. Stir into dry ingredients. Stir in oil and mix. GENTLY fold in beaten egg whites, do not over mix.

Pour about 1/3 cup at a time into waffle iron on the grill..

So light and so fluffy!

Classic Belgian waffle recipe anyone?
I’ve researched many Belgian waffle recipes. Some are too eggy. Others limp. Does anyone have a true Belgian waffle recipe (one that separates and whips the egg whites)? I’d be very grateful.

Belgian Waffles “Belgian waffles are tender and flavorful waffles made with yeast. They’re great topped with butter, whipped cream and fresh fruit.”

PREP TIME 15 Min
COOK TIME 20 Min
READY IN 1 Hr 35 Min
SERVINGS & SCALING
Original recipe yield: 8 waffles

INGREDIENTS
1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm milk (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
3 egg yolks
2 3/4 cups warm milk (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
3/4 cup butter, melted and cooled to lukewarm
1/2 cup white sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 cups all-purpose flour
3 egg whites

DIRECTIONS
In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm milk. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.
In a large bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, 1/4 cup of the warm milk and the melted butter. Stir in the yeast mixture, sugar, salt and vanilla. Stir in the remaining 2 1/2 cups milk alternately with the flour, ending with the flour. Beat the egg whites until they form soft peaks; fold into the batter. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap. Let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume, about 1 hour.
Preheat the waffle iron. Brush with oil and spoon about 1/2 cup (or as recommended by manufacturer) onto center of iron. Close the lid and bake until it stops steaming and the waffle is golden brown. Serve immediately or keep warm in 200 degree oven.

How do i make a Grilled Cheese Sandwich?

when i was a kid my dad used to take me to lunch on Saturdays at the local drug store lunch counter.

i always got the same thing. a grilled cheese sandwich and a chocolate milk shake.

this particular lunch counter would make their grilled cheese by putting american cheese on white bread, lightly buttering both sides, and putting it in the waffle iron, which gave it that lovely crispy texture and the wonderful waffle iron pattern.

just the best ever.

so when my kid was growing up (and there were no more drug store lunch counters) i bought a cheap waffle iron.

the difference is variety. sometimes american processed cheese on white, sometimes sharp cheese and thinly sliced tomatoes on whole wheat. sometimes, thinly sliced ham and swiss on rye.

lots of ideas for a great grilled cheese samwhich.

just be sure and use the waffle iron.

do you have to grease the waffle maker before you add the mixture?
i tried making waffles today, but they got stuck to the maker on the top and bottom and when i opened it, they split in two halves

Yes, because if you don’t when you open the waffle iron it will tear the waffle. The best thing to use for grease is PAM. Low in fats, and bad stuff….

What is the best pancake recipe?

Best Ever Pancakes or Waffles

1/2 cup flour

1/2 cup whole wheat flour

1 tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup buttermilk OR 3/4 c. plain yogurt + 1/4 c. water

1 large egg

2 tablespoons oil

Food processor method: Put the flours, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt into a food processor. Process briefly to mix. Add the buttermilk, or yogurt and water, egg and oil. Turn the machine on-off (pulse) 3 or 4 times to make a smooth batter. By hand method: Put the flours, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt into a large bowl. Stir to mix well. Measure the buttermilk in a 2-cup glass measure. Add the egg and oil to the measuring cup. Beat with a fork or wire whisk to blend. Add to the flour mixture and stir to form a smooth batter.

For pancakes: Heat the griddle or skillet over moderately high heat until it feels hot when you hold your hand directly above it. Lightly grease the griddle. For each pancake, pour 1/4 cup batter onto the griddle. Cook 3-5 minutes, until bubbles appear on the surface and the undersides are golden brown. Adjust the heat if the pancakes are browning too fast. Turn the pancakes over and cook 1-2 minutes longer to brown the second side.

For waffles: heat the waffle iron; grease it lightly. Pour in the appropriate amount of batter and spread to the edges. Close and cook until the iron will open easily. Keep finished waffles or pancakes warm in a 200ºF oven – pancakes on a plate and loosely covered to keep moist; waffles directly on the oven rack, uncovered, to stay crisp. Makes 8 4″ pancakes.
